WonderCon San Francisco

So, I'm chatting with the CUT organizers, and looked up at the calender in my office...thinking, hey!  It's two weeks before our major local comic convention is happening.  They should have some kind of schedule.

Lo and behold, who do I see on their front page????  http://www.comic-con.org/

6:30-7:00 New Line Cinema: Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D— Based on the classic Jules Verne novel Journey to the Center of the Earth, Journey 3D, the first live action digital 3D movie, is an exhilarating adventure staring Brendan Fraser as a science professor whose untraditional hypotheses have made him the laughing stock of the academic community. On an expedition in Iceland, he and his nephew stumble upon a major discovery that launches them on a thrilling journey deep beneath the Earth’s surface where they travel through never-before-seen worlds and encounter a variety of unusual creatures. Journey 3D is directed by Academy Award-winning visual effect veteran Eric Brevig. The film, which is a co-venture between New Line Cinema and Walden Media, is scheduled to be released on July 11, 2008. Star Brendan Fraser will be present to discuss the film. In addition, a special screening of never before seen footage in 3D will be shown at the Metreon later Friday evening! Attend this panel for a chance at a ticket for that limited-seating screening. I have been telling friends that Brendan will probably be here, because his movies being released this year would interest fans who attend these kinds of conventions.

Of course I'm ecstatic!  I'm a great Bren admirer and have been for years:   http://www.greyeyegoddess.com/brendan
I'll finally be able to update my site with new personal pictures.  Those pictures I have are from, what, last century?  LOL!  Actually 2001, but close enough.  Gosh, those pictures were taken with film!

Looks like I'm going to have to get a new camera quicker than I thought.  Or should I bring the Polaroid?  lol!  Bren's an avid photographer and Polaroid cameras always seem to interest the entertainers I meet.

There are other celebs who are attending the convention-Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway from Get Smart, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson from X-files movie, Summer Glau and Thomas Dekker from the Terminator series.  Forgot to post that James McAvoy is scheduled to be there, too.  It will be loads of fun!

San Francisco's Wondercon is the sister con to the international Comic Con in San Diego.  And these kinds of conventions are not for the comic geeks anymore.  Oh noooooo!  I dubbed it: Hollywood comes to San Francisco.  Last year, I mentioned Gerry would probably come to the area to promote 300 because it was right before the movie was released...surprise...he did.  I'm on a roll!  Seriously, I probably don't have anyone else I'd be interested in, who is making a movie that would be interesting to the comic fan.  I'm still planning on going though.  You never know.  It's fun and as I've mentioned before, I have family involved in the comic business.  Here's their convention, where I help host their guests:  http://www.super-con.com/main.html

Super con is probably the next biggest comic convention under Wondercon.  So, it's not a bad deal.  And Super con is primarily for comic fans.  But I meet other people of interest to me while I'm there.

So far, so good this year.
